I attended the massive DAP ceramah at Han Chiang field yesterday night. Datuk Zahrain Mohamed Hashim from PKR who is contesting the Bayan Baru parlimentary seat was among the speakers. He was representing Anwar Ibrahim and Wan Azizah who could not make it.
In his speech, Datuk Zahrain criticized the Election Commision (EC) because all the media space only featured Barisan Nasional (BN). He then challenged the EC to give Anwar Ibrahim a chance to speak in the media. According to him, inilah politik jantan (masculine) and not politik “cha bo heng (effiminate)”.
I was terribly upset and disturbed to hear this statement of his. To vote him in would be like voting in a sexist Member of Parliament (MP). To not vote him, the chance of having a stronger Opposition becomes slimmer.
Do we need to choose between voting in a sexist MP and voting for a stronger opposition?
